When i awake with your likeness

Oswaldo Gutiérrez.

By that we can see that during summer which is the time of probation we reach maturity. In fall trees lose their leaves, so we drop all those things that we must get rid of, that are not useful for us anymore, in winter nature rests, and trees recover energy to be ready for spring.

Spring is synonymous of new opportunities, it is a time of feasts, joy and happiness, barley = “More than conquerors” so by this we understand that spring is telling us that the return of the Lord is closer than ever, let´s remember that spring is a time for go to war but we must do it with joy.

During winter nature gets into a time of wintering so this gives us the idea that spring is a time to wake up, to wake up from accommodation.

This is a time that we have to be eager to wake up to His likness, let´s remember that the Bible says that Christ was like one of us but without sin, and that must be our goal.

Psa 17:15 KJ2000 As for me, I will behold your face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with your likeness.

H6974 koots

A primitive root (rather identical with H6972 through the idea of abruptness in starting up from sleep (compare H3364)); to awake (literally or figuratively): – arise, (be) (a-) wake, watch.

This word represents the resurrection according to Wordstudy Dictionary,

Dan 12:2 KJ2000 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

1Th 4:13 KJ2000 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them who are asleep, that you sorrow not, even as others who have no hope.

1Th 4:16 KJ2000 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then the dead in Christ shall awake. Could be also translated.

Luk 20:35-38 KJ2000  But they who shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:  Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.  Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he called the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. 38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

We don´t die as we know, we only sleep in Christ. Bur for that we have to reach the height of living,

Previous to awake to his likeness,

To what we have to awake?

  • Spiritual death

2Ki 4:31 KJ2000 And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff upon the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Therefore he went again to meet him, and told him, saying, The child has not awakened.

The one who is still immature is basically slept and hasn´t awake, we need to evaluate our spiritual life to know where we are, if we are still immature, but how do we do this? Analyzing our reactions to certain situations in our lives, for instance if we feel envy for our children success because we didn´t live such a thing, we are immature, we are asleep, and if we remind asleep we won´t be alert when the Lord return for His bride.

Lev 20:9 KJ2000 For every one that curses his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he has cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.

This is not time to stay being a child, the Lord is coming for mature children.

  • From tribulation

Psa 3:1-4 KJ2000  [A Psalm of David when he fled from Absalom his son.] LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. 2  Many there be who say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. 3  But you, O LORD, are a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of my head. 4  I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

David was going a terrible tribulation because his son was searching him to kill him.

  • From drunkenness

Pro 23:35 KJ2000 They have stricken me, you shall say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

Joe 1:5 KJ2000 Awake, you drunkards, and weep; and howl, all you drinkers of wine, because of the new wine, for it is cut off from your mouth.

To get out from drunkenness we need to be filled with the Lords unction, to spiritual reborn. Somebody can be drunk from idolatry for instance, it doesn´t only subscribe to alcohol.

  • Drunk of confusion

Isa 19:14 KJ2000 The LORD has mixed a perverse spirit in its midst: and they have caused Egypt to err in her every work, as a drunken man staggers in his vomit.

Pro 26:9 KJ2000 As a thorn goes up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.

  • Drunk of rebel

Jer 48:26 KJ2000 Make him drunken: for he magnified himself against the LORD: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.

  • Drunk of violence

Pro 23:29 KJ2000 Who has woe? who has sorrow? who has contentions? who has babbling? who has wounds without cause? who has redness of eyes?

  • Drunk of anguish and bitterness

1Sa 1:10-15 KJ2000  And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept bitterly. 11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your handmaid, and remember me, and not forget your handmaid, but will give unto your handmaid a male child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head. 12  And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli observed her mouth. 13  Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunk. 14 And Eli said unto her, How long will you be drunk? put away your wine from you. 15  And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

People who slept in the Bible

1Ki 19:4-5 KJ2000  But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers. 5  And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.

An inner conflict made him feel a looser, he depressed, there are people who are perfectionist and the fact of not having control of everything they get depress

Jdg 16:19 KJ2000 And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

1Sa 4:17-18 KJ2000  And the messenger answered and said, Israel has fled before the Philistines, and there has been also a great slaughter among the people, and your two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken. 18 And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck broke, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.

We need to awake, if we know that we are asleep.
