Pastor Abraham de la Cruz.
As we know the word philadelphia means brotherly love, but also we have to understand that all words that comes from the word philos should be considered as the genetic of the Church. And one of them is the word philosophy, which comes from G5386 philosophos and means love of wise things.
In Col. 2:8 NASB says: See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.”
Other version, (GW) Be careful not to let anyone rob you of this faith through a shallow and misleading philosophy. Such a person follows human traditions and the world’s way of doing things rather than following Christ.
Another version, (JUB) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the traditions of men, according to the elements of the worlds, and not after Christ.
We have to consider that there is a philosophy that comes from the world and is evil, can captive a human mind; the only way we can defeat this philosophy is by using and knowing the foundations of the philosophy that comes from Christ. And because of this, we have to look for the philosophy that comes from God, James 3:13 NASB “Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.” So wisdom is not only a way of thinking or considering things, but also includes behavior. And where do you think we can learn what wisdom is? The first thing, we have to consider is the foundations, for example: the fear of the Lord, Prov. 1:7.
Luk 2:39-40 NASB When they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city of Nazareth. The Child continued to grow and become strong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him. How old do you think Jesus was? He had 40 days old; what can we learn when we have only 40 days old? From here, we can learn that we don’t have to forget about the important things, because they´re valuable and these are the ones that are learn at home. For example you can learn about nutrition, speak, walk and identity.
1 Pe 2:1-2 NASB Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander, like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation. Based on this, we know that are house is the church and we’ve to desire to received pure milk as newborn babies, which is the pure doctrine, the foundations of the Church, which is specified in His Word, the Bible. We don’t have to forget or underestimate the foundations of our faith, because they lead us to wisdom.
2 Tim 3:14-15 NASB You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
1 Co 13:11 NASB When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. We should be changing our way of speaking as we are growing, because those who have reached maturity speak the words of wisdom. Also by having a precise word from God, for those who needs to receive an advice.
Acts 4:13 NASB Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus. Regarding this, we can learn how people were amazed about the confidence of the apostles, because even though they were not educated, they knew how to communicate and speak, because they were walking with Jesus, so with this, is important to know that by following Jesus, everything in our lives will change, no matter what, i.e. our lives, our way of speaking, etc.
John14:6 NASB Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. We can see how His disciples followed Him, because He is the way, the truth and the life, notice He never said because of what you did, I will go and find someone else, He has been very patient with us and we should not go anywhere else. If you follow Jesus and your path will be straight and I can assure you that your life will change and you’ll not go astray. If you find barriers or disappointments, remember that God is working in your life and He will accomplish what He promised, you´ll be a different person, so please continue walking.
1 Co 4:17 NASB For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and he will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, just as I teach everywhere in every church.
1 John 2:13 NASB I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father. By the spirit we can identify and recognize when God rises ministers but also we can see them as fathers, because they were sent to restore our being.
Luke 2:51-52 NASB And He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and He continued in subjection to them; and His mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. All of us have to learn to be subject to God, in our houses, in the church, because by doing these we will be able to grow and develop ourselves.
Mark 6:2 NASB When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue; and the many listeners were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things, and what is this wisdom given to Him, and such miracles as these performed by His hands? If we follow God and continue walking in His ways, He will give us wisdom but also He will give us more gifts.
