God recently talked to me about the valley of the dry bones, and I want to share something written in the book of Ezekiel.
Ezekiel 37:4-5(NKJV) Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.”
God wants to deliver us from every boring routine; He wants to revive and comfort our spirits with His breath. But let me ask you: How is your spirit? Is it alive or dead?In Psalms 32:3David said: When I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groaning all the day long.If this is your case, there is hope for you. God is able to work miracles and transform your groaning into praise.
Ezekiel 37:1-2The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry.
The Bible describes many valleys, but today I want to show a list of some of them.
- Valley of Humiliation (Gen. 13:11).
- Valley of the Shadow of Death (Psa. 23:4)
- Valley of Siddim (Gen. 14:3).
- Valley of Ben-Hinom (Jer. 32:35).
- Valley of Zered (Num. 21:12).
- Valley of Sorek (Jdg. 16:4).
- Valley of Decision (Joel 3:14).
- Valley of Rephaim (Is. 17.5).
In life, there are many valleys which represent different situations. Some of these valleys cause God’s people to withdraw from church. For example, the valley of shadow of death is when someone you love is called to the Lord’s presence. This could bring temporary sadness, but in Christ, we have the promise of everlasting life. In the same way, I can mention other valleys that serve to test every Christian. The valley of Sorek represents temptation; this was the valley in which Samson met Delilah.
Ezekiel 37:5(NKJV) Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.”
God is willing to give the opportunity of repentance to those who left the Church; to those who abandoned the gifts they received from Him. Today God says: I will give you another chance, let me bring new life into your bones. Now, it is necessary to understand that God works in different ways in each of us, but at the end, God desires His people to rejoice before Him.
Ezekiel 37:11(NKJV) Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!
Sometimes, God’s people confess things that are not according to His will, but the Lord’s plans and power are enough to renew our hope in Christ. We have seen, and we know that He can work miracles as He did in formers times.
Ezekiel 37:10So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.
God’s will for His people is to set them in order, in order of battle. He doesn’t want us to be seated, i.e. waiting for His blessing and doing nothing about it. This is time to stand up, to conquer the promises and the land He prepared for us.
Ezekiel 37:12-13Therefore prophesy and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves.”
Notice that Israel was caught up in their graves, and the same happens today with many Christians. The good news is that the Lord has a plan to solve every situation; it is written in Ezekiel 37:14I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it, says the Lord. Brethren, today the Lord wants to take us out of the tomb. This is urgent because there is no time left, He will soon come for His church.
II Samuel 2:32Then they took up Ashael and buried him in his father’s tomb, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at daybreak.
Ashael means: God’s creature. Ashael was buried because of his pride; he thought he was able to fight against someone which had more authority than him. This attitude represents those Christians who usually disagree and reject the commands of an authority. Therefore, if you find yourself fighting against people, or if you despise the Lord’s commandments, certainly you are acting proudly and this could lead you into a tomb.
II Samuel 3:32So they buried Abner in Hebron; and the king lifted up his voice and wept at the grave of Abner, and all the people wept.
This grave represents betrayal. When people are deceived by someone, especially by an acquaintance, it is easy to fall in this grave. This kind of wound keeps many Christians without being able to rejoice in God’s presence. Therefore, if you were betrayed by your spouse or by someone you loved, it is time to forgive and keep looking unto Jesus.
Romans 3:13Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit. The poison of asps is under their lips.
This kind of behavior is something normal among the ungodly, but as Christians, we should never use our tongues to deceive. The simple truth is that the world hates us, therefore they will speak lies about us, but this should not seem strange to us. Now, we were not called to fight against flesh, instead we were called to forgive and bless.
Matthew 23:27Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.
This is the tomb of religiosity. Perhaps someone practiced a religion before coming to Christ, but now, it is necessary to come out of this tomb. Jesus said that He came to give us life and abundance, not a religion. Religiosity kills the faith of those who practice it.
I Kings 13:30Then he laid the corpse in his own tomb; and they mourned over him, saying, “Alas, my brother!”
This passage shows the consequence of rebellion and disobedience. This scripture describes the story of the young prophet who was deceived by the old prophet. For example, we were taught that there are many pagan feasts that the world celebrates in these days; therefore let me ask you: Why are you celebrating with the ungodly? If the Lord wants you to be pure and well established in the sound doctrine, then, why are you sharing with those who mock and reject Christ? Take heed brethren, our obedience and submission are pleasant to the Lord. For this reason, the devil is interested in keeping the tombs sealed. He will try by any means to stop our blessings. Matthew 27:64says: Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, He has risen from the dead. So the last deception will be worse than the first.
Matthew 27:52-53and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
In conclusion brethren, the tombs are not a place designed for God’s people. We must be aware of the things that happen around us and recognize the paths we are walking. Keep always in mind that Christ conquered the grave and defeated death forever. Our enemies have no power upon us because we were bought with the precious blood of Christ.
