The perfect man

Pastor Marco Vinicio Castillo.

Eph 4:11-12 KJ2000  And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

On the previous verse we can see how important these five ministries are.

Eph 4:13 KJ2000 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:

There are people that actually think that nowadays there are no more apostles, but let´s notice the verse 13 that those five ministries help us to reach all what we read in that verse. Now we need to analyze ourselves if we have reached the stature of the perfect man.

The Human Maturity:

  • The physical maturity:is the sate reached when the physical and sexual is complete.
  • The emotional or affective maturity: Is the adaptation to a social media accepting the reality of other people and things just as they are.
  • The psychological maturity:Is the age of the moment in which a person acquires good judgment and prudence, which implies, autonomy, proper behavior to circumstances, stability, responsibility and self-domain.

It doesn´t depend on the age of a person, for instance there are no proper age to be ready to get marry but it depends of his maturity, the Bible says that the man shall leave mother and father and shall cleave to his wife, but what happen when they marry but still he insist in being the whole time in his mother´s house? Perhaps he was not ready to marry yet. Or perhaps he doesn´t have autonomy and still economically depends on his parents.

Refers to a person that still behaves as he was less age than he really is; for instance; a man of 30 years old that has the same behavior of a teenager of 18.

Nowadays youth takes more time to reach maturity than previous generations; perhaps it could be for the accommodations that they enjoy in their parents´ house; and this is where it is our responsibility, we worry too much about them, it doesn´t mean that we don´t have to worry but there must be a balance, if we offer them too much accommodations we are delaying their time of maturity. As consequence they marry older or they don´t.

Now we must wonder, are we behaving as the years we have of being Christians? Or we are still behaving as toddlers?

1Co 3:1-2 KJ2000  And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2  I have fed you with milk, and not with solid food: for until now you were not able to bear it, neither yet now are you able.3  For you are yet carnal: for while there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are you not carnal, and walk as men?

Other versions translate “carnal” as “immature person” if there are envying and strife, and divisions among us that means that we are immature, if you have identify some of these things but you want to reach the stature of the perfect man; certainly the Lord will help you.

Symptoms of immaturity

Luk 8:14 KJ2000 And that which fell among thorns are they, who, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

The previous verse is talking of believer not of someone who doesn´t believe in Christ yet.

Rom 5:3-4 KJ2000  And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience; 4  And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

This is the explanation of why we go through tribulations; because they help us to increase our patience, experience and hope. For instance if we are not constant on praying suddenly comes the tribulation and that is when we start praying, it for sure will make us mature because there is always something that we learn of each tribulation. Tribulation is not to destroy you, never! The Lord is not punishing you. God is only maturating your heart and your character.

2Ti 3:16-17 KJ2000  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:17  That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

All of us need those four things, and this is where the pastor helps us. All depends that we identify the areas where we need o mature and accept the methods that God use to help us to reach that maturity that He expects from us.
