Apostle Sergio Enríquez.
As we live, we acquire more knowledge of our environment and ourselves; we discover new things that show us the truth and the reality about many aspects of life. For example, the prophet Elijah thought that he was better than his parents, but when he was threatened by Jezebel, he became depressed because he recognized his condition. The same thing happened to Joseph when he recognized his brothers in Egypt while he was ruling over the land. Through this encounter, he was able to identify deep within his heart that he had developed a desire of vengeance, (Genesis 42:7-17). But I say these things as an example for us, especially because when we walk with Christ, we also grow in our faith. Therefore, as we evolve, we must be able to recognize the things that need to be changed or transformed in us.
Now, in order to conquer the land of abundance, we need to overcome different stages. In other words, it is not enough to see the land of abundance; we all need God’s grace to remain in it and achieve all the blessings. Let’s see the four stages described in the bible for those who want to enter the land of Canaan.
Proverbs 2:20-21(NKJV) So you may walk in the way of goodness, And keep to the paths of righteousness. For the upright will dwell in the land, And the blameless (perfect) will remain in it.
In the verses shown above, we can see the evolution of a Christian as follows: At first, you were an evil person without Christ, but at some point of your life, you decided to walk with good people. Then you changed your old friends, that is, those who delighted in the things of this world. And as a result, you felt attracted to go to church and there you kept the paths of the righteous. But at this point, is important to mention the difference between a way and a path. -The way is usually wider than a path, therefore, from a spiritual point of view, when you walk in the paths of the righteous, you also sanctify yourself. In former times you chose according to your thoughts and desires, but now you choose the things that please the Lord. For this reason, every Christian needs to be tested in the fire or the furnace. The trials will show the impurities that each one has; we all must get rid of the things that are useless, specially the things that keep us from being completely free.
If we continue with the passage of Proverbs 2:21, we can see that only those who are perfect (blameless) will remain in the land of abundance. In other words, the blameless are those who dwell in the presence of the Lord and the worries of this life are not relevant for them. In the book of Revelation, we can see how John was a prisoner in the Island of Patmos, but at the same time he received great visions and revelations from the Lord. This same experience is what God desires for His people, that is, to dwell in a greater dimension with Him.
Recently, we talked about the instruments that need to be sharpened i.e. the ax, the sickle, the arrow, etc. Then I mentioned the way of goodness and the path of the righteous. But now, I want to talk about uprightness and how it helps every Christian to remain in the land of abundance. Let’s consider the next verse and how the church needs to evolve.
Song of Solomon 6:10Who is she who looks forth as the morning, Fair as the moon, Clear as the sun, awesome as an army with banners?
The evolution of the church of Christ can be described as follows: 1. looks forth as the morning: God is talking about the light and how this stage represents the courts. Then the king says: 2. fair as the moon:again, it talks about the light and this stage represents the Holy Place. 3. Clear as the sun:the sun represents the Holy of Holies and the brightest star for us. But notice that there is a fourth stage mentioned at the end of the verse: awesome as an army with banners. From these four stages, we can summarize the passage and write four key words: light, light, light, order. This sequence is similar to what the book of Genesis describes at the beginning of creation, when God spoke and the light of the world shined. Spiritually talking, we first see the light of God and then we can set all things in order.
II Kings 10:30And the Lord said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in doing what is right in My sight, and have done to the house of Ahab all that was in My heart, your sons shall sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.”
It is clear that the blessing of doing what is right before the Lord will have a great impact upon your descendants. But what did Jehu do that was right at the sight of God? And the answer is that he killed Jezebel through certain eunuchs. Therefore, if we apply this action to us, we can say that he who kills every attitude of Jezebel is doing what is right. Now Jezebel did many evil things, but the most relevant was that she killed prophets by decapitating them. According to the bible the head represents God’s authority; I Corinthians 11:3says: But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. In other words brethren, when Jezebel’s spirit comes to attack the church of Christ, she will try to destroy the authority by saying that there is no need to subject to anyone; this spirit will say that you can be your own authority, that is, without recognizing God’s ministers. Therefore, if you recognize authority, you will be doing what is right before the Lord.
