Apostle Samuel Diaz.
During these days I have been talking about a word that has to do with the latter times; we described the schemes of the devil based in the Old Testament, and how can we get ahead of him in order to be saved from his destructive plans. One of the ways in which ancient armies defeated their enemies was by besieging a city. This strategy could take days, months and even years in order to cause the enemy to surrender. In the same way, the enemy of our souls is trying to besiege God’s people, but the good news is that we are more than conquerors in Jesus Christ our Savior.
Now let me explain how some kings of the Old Testament represent the malicious powers that are trying to conquer the church in these days. But, in the name of the Lord I say to you that your Helper will come soon, just keep believing and resist the enemy’s darts. Now siegecomes from the Hebrew word tsur(H6696) which means: to overwhelm, confine, afflict, bond, fight, surround, and besiege. In prior services, we talked about Ben-Hadad, the king who besieged the city of Samaria; His name means “son of a dark god”, and how he caused a great famine in Samaria. Ben-Hadad’s attack was brought down by Elisha’s prophecy; based on this I say that the word of God has the power to undo all the works of the enemy. Then we talked about Abimelech, and how he tried to steal God’s people holiness. His name means: “a man’s ego”, but the bible describes how a wise woman threw a big stone in his head and killed him. This woman represents the church of Christ who is skillful to use God’s word to crush the head of the enemy.
I Samuel 11:1-2(NKJV) Then Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped against Jabesh Gilead; and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, “Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you.” And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, “On this condition I will make a covenant with you, that I may put out all your right eyes, and bring reproach on all Israel.”
Today I say in the name of the Lord that we are not making any covenant with the darkness. This diabolic power is haughty and seeks to bring shame upon God’s people. Nahash comes from the Hebrew word nakjásh(H5175) which means serpent, and as we know the serpent is the devil himself. Now brethren, understand in your spirit who has been attacking you. Some other meanings for Nakjásh are: to whisper a magic spell, predict, divination, sorcerer. Notice brethren how the king of Jabesh Gilead wanted to make a covenant with occultism and witchcraft. But as God’s children we already have a covenant with the Lord, and this covenant is powerful to work miracles in our lives because there is nothing impossible for our God.
Ezekiel 21:21For the king of Babylon stands at the parting of the road, at the fork of the two roads, to use divination: he shakes the arrows, he consults the images, he looks the liver.
The three weapons of witchcraft are listed in the verse shown above, and we will describe each of them. Notice brethren that every idol has the influence of a demon, therefore those who worship images are influenced by demons. Similar to this, is the practice of divination; people ask a demon certain information about someone and that is how they “tell the fortune”. Now, if we analyze what the arrows represent, Psalms 64:2-3says: Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the rebellion of the workers of iniquity, Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows – bitter words. These arrows are words that Satan speaks against the believers, for this reason Paul says in Ephesians 6:16above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Notice that this shield works whenever we believe God’s promise, that is, when we know it and confess it, overthrowing every lie of the devil.
Psalms 76:1-3In Judah God is known; His name is great in Israel. In Salem also is His tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion. There He broke the arrows of the bow, the shield and sword of battle.
When we praise and worship the Lord, He breaks the arrows of the enemy and He puts us under the shadow of His wings, therefore no evil will visit us.
Now, if we analyze the life of Nahash, we see that he was an Ammonite who came from Ammon. Therefore when Nahash covers a family, he activates every kind of sexual sin and perversion. It is
important to see that this perverse king came to attack the city of Jabes which means dry. According to the Bible, there are many things that can be dry according. For example, David said that his eyes were dry due to a great sorrow in his soul. But in the New Testament we read about a man who had a dry hand, this represents those who cannot give to others, i.e. they are not generous. Jabes also means to be ashamed, confused, and withered; these are feelings can come due to unconfessed sin or because someone doesn’t believe in God’s word.
]Zechariah 11:17Woe to the worthless shepherd, who leaves the flock! A sword shall be against his arm and against his right eye; His arm shall completely wither, and his right eye shall be totally blinded.
Each father is a shepherd in his house, and a shepherd takes care of the flock, he leads it to pleasant places. On the contrary, if a man hates his own house, he is not fulfilling his role as a father, he is escaping his responsibilities. Therefore brethren, we should not forget God’s purpose and vision for our lives. Today we will pray to be surrounded with the Lord’s prophetic voice.
I Samuel 11:5-6Now there was Saul, coming behind the herd from the field; and Saul said, “What troubles the people, that they weep? And they told him the words of the men of Jabesh. Then the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard this news, and his anger was greatly aroused.
Today, the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will no longer weep due to the threats of your enemies. Instead, the power of God will deliver you from every sense of failure and conformity. The Bible says in Romans 8:31…If God is for us, who can be against us?
I Samuel 11:8When he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
Now Bezek comes from the Hebrew word bazac(H965) which means: to illuminate, flash of a lightning, lightning. I believe brethren that this light represents an instant revelation, a help that comes from above and leads you toward the solution of a problem. This means that a word of God can change our entire life in a second; today I will pray for God to send His light upon you. In the passage of I Samuel 11:9says: And they said to the messengers who came, Thus you shall say to the men of Jabesh Gilead: Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have help. Then the messengers came and reported it to the men of Jabesh, and they were glad.
Notice that the men of Jabesh were glad before the help came for their city; What I can see in this text, is that those who celebrate the word of hope before a miracle happens, will also see God’s glory working for their good. ISamuel 11:11So it was, on the next day, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and killed Ammonites until the heat of the day. And it happened that those who survived were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.
In summary, we know how to defeat this kind of powers of the darkness; first, we need God’s revelation, and then we need to seek the Lord’s Presence in prayer. Therefore, if we want to impact our day, we must present ourselves to the Lord. If we do so, we will rejoice in God’s victories.
